Let’s not sugarcoat it: rejection fucking hurts. Whether it’s losing a friend, being passed over for a job, or feeling like the doors you were praying to walk through slammed shut in your face… it can leave you wondering, “What’s wrong with me?”

The answer to that is nothing. Well…Maybe some loose screws and some wires misconnected…

But, I digress.

Last year, I lost two friendships that I truly cherished. At first, I felt abandoned. I took it personally. Because why? It made me doubt myself and my worth as a friend. But then I realized: sometimes people leave not because you’re not enough, but because your paths are no longer aligned. Spiritually, I came to understand that God/Universe/Source doesn’t remove people to punish us, but to protect and position us.

I have faced rejection after rejection when it came to jobs. I was told I “lacked experience” or just never heard back at all. I was doing all the “right” things and still getting “no.” That kind of rejection can feel like failure. But it’s not.

Rejection Is Not a Dead End

Every rejection is actually redirection. You’re not being blocked. You’re being guided.

Think about it: what if those friendships had continued? What if I had landed one of those jobs just because it looked good on paper? I would’ve been pouring energy into spaces that weren’t meant for me.

Now, I see rejection as God and the Universe’s way of saying, “Not here. I’ve got something better.”

How I Personally Deal With Rejection

Here’s what’s helps me shift my mindset:

Feel it, but don’t feed it

Let yourself grieve. Rejection is a loss. But don’t let it define your worth. Write it out. Cry. Dance. Scream if you need to

Tip: do it in your pillow, so your neighbors don’t call 911.

But then…Release it. Don’t stay stuck in a loop of “Why me?”

Affirm your alignment

Tell yourself: “What’s meant for me will not miss me. If it missed me, it’s because I’m being prepared for better.” Say it until you believe it. Let that be your mantra every time you experience rejection or a feeling of doubt that you might have missed your chance.

Transmute the pain into power

Be an alchemist. Use the rejection as fuel. Build yourself. Work on your craft. Deepen your self-love. Let your “no’s” refine you, not define you. You are still still destined for greatness.

Let Rejection Build You, Not Break You

You’re not failing. You’re becoming. You’re not behind. You’re being aligned. I know it’s hard in the moment, but one day, you’ll look back and be grateful for the closed doors. They were clearing the path for your destination.

So if you’re in a season of rejection right now, know this: you’re not being overlooked—you’re being shifted into your direction.

Trust the reroute.
