If you’re reading this, that means you’ve made it to day 45 of January. Congratulations! You’ve made it halfway through the longest month of the year. Let’s do a quick check in? How you doing? And I mean… How you really doing?

Personally, the way that my mood is set up right now I am missing the sun and it shows. I have less energy, I’m not in the mood to talk as much.  You can say I’m really hermitting.

Nonetheless since the daily life continues, it’s important to take moments to uplift your spirits. Here are five simple things you can do to feel good:

  1. Listen to Uplifting Music

Music has a magical way of transforming our mood. I actually have multiple playlists on Spotify to uplift my mood. One is an actual mish mash of all my 723 personalities combined, whereas the other is just pure fuel to get my inner fire started. All of them will have me wiggling on the bus while I’m crocheting or writing a blogpost, like now. Find your favorite tunes and let them elevate your spirits.
  2. Call or Text Your Best Friend

Sometimes, all we need is a good chat with a friend who knows us best. My bestie and I will call each other multiple times a day (sometimes just to talk shit, because we need it) to the point that my colleagues now feel like they know her too. But talking to her really does bring me joy.  Reach out and share a laugh or a story.
  3. Get into Some Energetic Dancing

That playlist I mentioned earlier? Let your body move to the rhythm! Dancing is not only fun but also a great way to release stress and boost your mood. Sign up for a dance class, go out…Whether it’s by yourself or with a squad.  Because, this is 2025. We’re not waiting for anybody to enjoy life. Dance!
  4. Do Something Creative

Engaging in a creative activity, like drawing, painting, or writing, can be incredibly fulfilling and can help express your emotions. That creative hobby you’ve been wanting to start learning, this is the time. It’s cold outside anyway!
  5. Practice Gratitude

Take a moment to reflect on the things you’re grateful for. Writing them down or simply acknowledging them can shift your perspective and increase your happiness.

Taking small steps to nurture your well-being can make a big difference. Try incorporating these practices into your daily routine and see how your mood transforms. Remember, it’s the simple joys that often have the most profound impact. Celebrate yourself, take time to recharge, and prioritize your happiness, babes. You deserve it!
